Transport Managers

The Royal Decree of May 22, 2014, which came into effect on September 1, 2014, regulates the profession of transport manager.

This position carries significant responsibility within the transport company. The transport manager is responsible for overseeing compliance with regulations concerning:

  • Drivers' driving and rest periods, working hours, and the use of monitoring equipment
  • The maximum permitted weight and dimensions of company vehicles
  • The professional competence, training, and continuing education of drivers
  • The technical condition of company vehicles, including the technical inspection of motor vehicles
  • Access to the profession and to the market for road freight transport
  • The safety of transporting dangerous goods by road
  • The installation and use of speed limiters in certain categories of vehicles
  • Driving licenses
  • The transport of animals

This is a heavy responsibility that carries significant risk.
